Rick Mercer on the municipal election

ONLINE VOTNGYou probably don’t think of Rick Mercer in the same breath as the municipal election taking place in Ontario this fall.

But the City of Burlington does.

They’re showcasing this video of Mercer encouraging voters to find out if they’re on the list of registered voters.  The video explains a provincewide check-in system called voterlookup.ca, a site that allows anyone to find out if they’re on a community’s list of voters.  It works for Hamilton, too.

Burlington was one of a handful of Ontario municipalities that provided online voting for the first time, in 2010  – allowing eligible voters in that community to cast a ballot from the comfort of their homes or workplaces.
