Fred Eisenberger joins race for mayor

By Matthew Van Dongen / The Hamilton Spectator

Fred Eisenberger is officially in the race.

The 61-year-old was mayor from 2006 to 2010.

He was defeated by Bob Bratina in that 2010 re-election bid and came in third behind another former mayor, Larry Di Ianni. Di Ianni is also rumoured to be mulling another run.

Eisenberger will shoulder into an increasingly crowded field – but one that doesn’t include current Mayor Bratina, who has announced he won’t run.

Other candidates in the race include former alderman Don Ross, current councillors Brad Clark and Brian McHattie, perennial candidate Michael Baldasaro and rookie Crystal Lavigne.
